Results ~ GHSA Sectional 6A Championships
It was a highly competitive field on Saturday and there were even some random thunder showers thrown in. Our Raiders fought hard and in the end two athletes finished in the top 8 which earns them a place at the GHSA State Championships in Albany on May 5-7. Megan O'Brien will advance to State in the 300M Hurdles and Courtney Stuart will represent the field athletes in the Pole Vault. ** Congratulations ladies & best of luck to you!
The Raiders ended the regular season with temperatures in the mid 80s for a very hot 2 day meet at the Region Championships at West Forsyth High School. There were several PRs, several heart breaks and some VERY exciting finishes! Poor Coach Merine lost his voice on day 2... must have been all that yelling at the relays. Athletes, if you are finished with competition this season, please return your CLEANED uniform singlet to Coach Merine at practice or to his classroom: room # 5114. Athletes who are going to Varsity Region and beyond will return their singlets once they are finished for the season.

What an AMAZING season this 2016 Track & Field Raider team is having! Last night, the Boys 4x800 Meter Relay of Jason Song (Fr), Sean Rager (Fr), Robert Chappell (So), and Jack Rager (Sr) broke an 8 yeard old school record by nearly 5 seconds! This was the 4th AHS Track & Field new school record set this season. There were many season best performances and every athlete on the team should be proud Raiders. The competition was fierce at Westlake on Saturday and AHS track & field athletes gave it their all. There were many season best performances at this highly competitive meet which consisted of 5 out of state teams and 25 teams from Georgia.
